What Happens at Your First Visit

Every step is designed to help us understand you as a whole person, not just as a set of teeth. Here’s what to expect.

Step 01

Health & Medication Review

We’ll begin by learning about your medical and dental history. Because your overall health connects to your oral health, we’ll ask about medications and dosages, including vitamins and supplements.

Step 02

A Real Conversation

Then you and Dr. Marrone will talk about your goals, questions, and concerns so that everything we do is calibrated to what you need and want.

Step 03

Thorough Exam & Screening

You’ll get a thorough exam that includes a non-invasive oral cancer screening and a review of your x-rays. This helps us determine the hygiene treatment you’ll need to support your gum health.

Step 04

Saliva Testing When Needed

If you have bleeding gums, a symptom of gum disease, we’ll do something unique: a saliva test. This lets us treat the disease with targeted medication. Treatment is crucial because gum disease links to many health conditions including diabetes, dementia, and heart disease.

Step 05

Your Personalized Plan

Once your exam is finished, we’ll review our findings and together develop a treatment plan so you achieve and maintain a healthy, beautiful smile.
